Saving Instagram captions — common questions
How does LinkMinds save an Instagram caption?
When you bookmark a post from the LinkMinds Chrome extension, iOS share sheet, or by pasting the URL, LinkMinds calls the Instagram oEmbed API to fetch the full caption and author handle. Caption text is stored as searchable content in your library — not just the image.
Why are Instagram's native saves not enough?
Native Instagram saves keep the image and a tap-through link to the post. They do not store the caption text, do not let you search captions, and disappear if the creator deletes the post. If you save Instagram for the writing — recipes, threads, recommendations, captions — that information is gone the moment you scroll past.
Do I need an Instagram account?
You need an Instagram session to view content the platform restricts to logged-in users. LinkMinds works with whatever you can see in your browser. Public posts capture without friction.
Can I save private account posts?
You can save any post you can view in your own Instagram session. LinkMinds does not bypass privacy controls — if you cannot read the caption on Instagram, LinkMinds cannot read it either.
What about Reels and carousel posts?
Caption text is captured for any post type that exposes a caption via Instagram's oEmbed (single posts, carousels, Reels). The original post URL is preserved so you can revisit images, video, or carousel slides on Instagram. Automatic Reel transcription is on the roadmap so spoken content becomes searchable too.
Can I save Instagram Stories?
Stories expire after 24 hours and cannot be reliably archived. LinkMinds focuses on permanent post and Reel content, where captions are designed to live indefinitely.
Can I find a saved post by hashtag later?
Yes — but better. Hashtags in the caption are part of the searchable text, and the AI topic extractor also pulls the underlying themes (#bakingsourdough → "bread", "fermentation", "recipe"). You can search by hashtag, by phrase from inside the caption, or by concept — far more powerful than hashtags alone.
How many Instagram captions can I save?
